Comorant Point and Post Office Bay
Another beautiful day on the Galapagos Islands! Since I had my macro lens on this trip, I wanted to showcase a little of the plant life. I find that flora is usually neglected as I focus mostly on fauna.
Flamingos are always fun to photograph - the pink colour of these birds contrasts so nicely with the earthy colours of nature! I have never seen flamingos fly though so I was taken aback by how striking their wings are with the black accents. Vince took the photos of the flamingos in flight!
We were so fortunate to see a sea turtle on shore! We watched him for a very very long time and he didn't move so we were worried about him despite our guide's assurances that he was just fine... as if on cue, the sea turtle looked up and told us he was A-OK. Then he slowly made his way back into the ocean.
In the afternoon, we headed to Post Office Bay. I was not too interested in seeing this stop but the concept is kind of neat. The idea is to leave your postcards in the "mailbox" and any travelers who live near you are supposed to take your postcards with them and hand deliver them to you. We eventually received our postcards back but the people who took ours just mailed them to us when they got back to their home city. The zodiac ride to Post Office Bay was really lovely so I'm glad we took the trip.
When we got back to the ship, Vince and I took a tour of the bridge! I believe the Celebrity Xpedition is one of a small number of ships that still allow these tours. It was really interesting!

Running in Circles, A Ninja Jump, and Cuteness Overload
It was the first warm weekend of the year and we were so excited to see the Hurley family again for a photo session at the Evergreen Brick Works! It had been a year and a half since our last family shoot and Matthew and Katelyn had both grown so much! The light was absolutely incredible during our late afternoon session. I had so many favourites that I wanted to post the entire collection so let's just get on with it. :)
Katelyn had just turned two years old a couple of days ago and she was so comfortable with the camera! She would look right at me or Vince and she was also incredibly well behaved throughout the entire session.
I love it when the kids start wandering towards me during the session. It makes for such cute, candid, and natural family portraits! Beth and Ryan are such caring, yet easy going parents... they always had such terrific smiles on their faces and you can clearly tell how much they love their little ones!
We took a quick snack break... and lots of "raspberries" and giggles ensued!
After the break, it was time to run around! Matthew delighted in running circles around me.
Then Katelyn and Matthew tried to run away but Beth and Ryan caught them every time.
More running! Where do kids get all this energy? I wish they would pass some to me!!
A trip to Brick Works would not have been complete without a few photos in front of the original brick buildings. I love the gritty, rustic vibe.
Vince took this next photo but I think he has an advantage because children are always fascinated by him. Plus Katelyn knew he was holding the bag of treats.
"Hey Matthew, let's go sit on a rock!" I tried to make it sound fun and it must have worked because, sure enough, he thought it was a great idea!
Another one of Vince's photos! Actually, he had a lot of great shots that made the final cut... so he gets an A for this session.
Are you ready for cuteness overload?
I found this next photo on Vince's memory card and it is a complete mystery to me... Matthew must be a ninja because I don't even remember him jumping so high in the air!
There's Matthew's silly smile!
While I was taking photos of Matthew, Vince was keeping his lens focussed on the rest of the family. I loved seeing their reactions!
This is probably one of my favourite photos of Matthew. At only 4 years old, he's already such a handsome little boy!
Matthew and Katelyn get along so well... it's so sweet to see them interact with each other.
Beth, Ryan, Matthew, and Katelyn, we always have such a fun time with you and this was no exception! Thank you so much for spending your Sunday afternoon with us and we hope you love your photos as much as we do! :)
